На рынке происходит убийство мужчины, которого обманула цыганка. Расторгуев расследует это дело. Но цыганка встречает на этом же рынке жену Расторгуева Лену, и, запугав ее, выманивает у нее большую сумму денег, а также крадет удостоверение Расторгуева, которое тот забыл дома на столике в прихожей. Теперь Расторгуеву просто необходимо разыскать эту цыганку. На рынок отправляется стажерка Ольга - она по приметам находит там цыганку и вычисляет, где та живет. А удостоверение Расторгуева, тем временем, попадает в руки начальника службы безопасности Быкова Рубанова. Рубанов отдает удостоверение майору Ровинскому и просит, чтобы в ответ полицейские нашли и разобрались с Максом, который стал мешать Быкову. Но когда Ровинский передает просьбу Рубанова, Расторгуев отказывается вмешиваться в криминальные разборки. В итоге полицейским удается задержать цыганку, а также и ее подельника-убийцу Романа. А Макс, понимая, что Быков его ищет, решает действовать первым - и убивает Рубанова.
