La serie de Hércules (1998–1999), producida por Disney Television Animation, narraba las aventuras del joven Hércules en la Academia Prometeo, donde se entrenaba para convertirse en héroe bajo la tutela de Filoctetes (Phil), aunque con algunas situaciones que podían contradecir lo visto en la película, especialmente con Hades. La serie contó con 65 episodios. En España, se emitió en TVE dentro del espacio Club Disney, y posteriormente en Disney Channel.

El opening de la serie adapta el tema "Zero to Hero" (De cero a héroe) de la película, compuesto por Alan Menken con letra de David Zippel, y en la versión española las Musas mantienen las mismas voces.
