Introverts could be the key to making a difference to our lives. If you think you lack the confidence to get out into the world and make an impact, watch this video.

Sarah talks about how the qualities of introverts create more effective activism, and gives some examples of the best way introverts can contribute.

Sarah Corbett grew up in an activist family and has worked as a professional campaigner for 6 years most recently with Oxfam. She started doing craftivism (craft + activism) in 2008 as a reaction to traditional aggressive or quick forms of activism. Due to demand Sarah set up the global Craftivist Collective in 2009 which now has thousands of supporters across the world taking part in her craftivism projects. This hobby has turned her into one of the leading spokespeople in the craftivism movement and regularly gives talks & lectures around the world. Sarah works with art institutions such as V&A, Southbank & National Portrait Gallery as well as charities such as Save the Children & Unicef and has also collaborated with cult jewellers Tatty Devine & Secret Cinema amongst others. Sarah also sells products, delivers workshops & exhibits her own craftivism work around the world. Her book “A Little Book

Art as activism | Marcus Ellsworth | TEDxUTChattanooga
Art as activism | Marcus Ellsworth | TEDxUTChattanooga Deen Doughouz 383 विचारों • 8 वर्षों पहले

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Marcus Ellsworth will be taking a look at how art can become a road map for progress as we ask the question "What Now?" Citing examples from world history as well as Chattanooga's present, Marcus will pose the idea that one of the best ways to answer that question is by looking at the creative output of Chattanooga’s citizens. The answers can be found in the music, writing, and even the graffiti of Chattanooga’s most under-served populations. We can use art to engage in meaningful discussions and purposeful action to make Chattanooga better for everyone.

Marcus Ellsworth is a spoken word artist and emcee working in the Chattanooga area. He hosts and organizes Wide Open Floor, a monthly open mic performance art showcase at Barking Legs Theater. He is also the president of Tennessee Valley Pride and co-chair for Tennessee Equality Project’s Hamilton and Bradley County Committee.

Marcus has spent much of the past eight years honing his skills as an artist and working to help build community around art and issues of social justice.
