Then came the topic that everyone whispered about the alcohol ban. Officially banned, but in reality, it’s just a phone call away. Home delivery of liquor continues, thriving in the shadow of law enforcement. People say it’s now “more available than ever before.”

We also met a social worker and Jan Suraaj member, who spoke about Prashant Kishor’s movement, Bihar’s political future, and how Jan Suraaj’s manifesto focuses on migration, education, and women’s SHG (samuh loan), a scheme that began with empowerment but turned into exploitation by private lenders charging high interest rates.

From unemployment and corruption to gender imbalance and farmer distress, the people of Bihar opened up about everything. Some praised Nitish Kumar for bringing safety, while others said symbolism still drives votes “jo full pant pehna dega, use vote milta hai.”

And finally, as we drove further, the contrast became striking, one region flooded, another completely dry and barren.

This is not just a travel story, it’s a ground report on Bihar’s development, politics, and survival.
