(Captured in July 1953, this photograph showcases Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas, Nevada, looking west from 2nd Street.
Dominating the right side is the red-brick Hotel Apache, which then housed Benny Binion’s famous Horseshoe Club—now known as Binion’s Gambling Hall. The foreground features a Shell gas station, which was later replaced by the Fremont Hotel in 1956. On the left, iconic neon landmarks like the Golden Nugget and the towering "Vegas Vic" cowboy sign are visible. Today, this historic stretch is preserved under the massive LED canopy of the Fremont Street Experience.)
