لا يوجد مكان لذئب منفرد. حياة القطيع أمر حتمي لنجاة الذئاب، يتعاونون في الصيد وتربية الجراء والاعتناء بكبار السن والمصابين. عائلات بروابط قوية وتسلسل هرمي شرس قمته زعيم القطيع. يستحيل أن يُخل فرد باستقرار هذا الترتيب. لكن أحيانًا يغادر ذئبٌ القطيع الذي وُلد فيه ليسافر خارج منطقته وحده، فلماذا يُعرض الذئب نفسه لخطر الجوع والمجهول؟
