Una restauración ha dejado otra pintura famosa irreconocible.

Esta vez, la restauración ha dejado una pintura de la Virgen María que se parece más al autorretrato torcido de un jardín de infantes. La pintura era una copia de "La Inmaculada Concepción de El Escorial", de la Virgen María, fue una de las famosas series del artista español del siglo XVII Bartolomé Esteban Murillo. La versión original de Murillo está colgada en el Museo del Prado de Madrid, y es probable que esta copia también sea de Murillo. ACRE es un grupo de defensa que ha publicitado la obra de arte fallida como parte de un esfuerzo por cambiar las reglas sobre la restauración de pinturas en el país.

Según un informe, el coleccionista privado que poseía la copia contrató a un restaurador de muebles para arreglar la pintura vieja. Devolvió la pintura en un estado irreconocible y manchado. Después de que el coleccionista se quejó, el restaurador hizo otro intento de arreglar la pintura y la devolvió aún menos como la obra de arte original.

Algunos en España ahora piden reglas más estrictas en el mercado de restauración de arte del país.

Este tipo de errores son sorprendentemente comunes, dijo la coordinadora de ACRE.

"Solo estamos familiarizados con los casos que la sociedad denuncia en la prensa o las redes sociales, pero hay muchos casos en los que las personas que no tienen entrenamiento se entrometen", dijeron

ACRE, está destacando el caso como parte de un esfuerzo por cambiar la ley española. ACRE quiere modificar una regla que rige el manejo del arte para exigir que solo profesionales capacitados intenten este tipo de restauraciones. (De hecho, ACRE denuncia el uso de la palabra "restauración" para describir lo que se hizo a la pintura de la inmaculada concepción, y en cambio indica que esto fue "vandalismo").

Por ahora, sin embargo, las circunstancias que llevaron a esta desafortunada restauración son completamente legales.
