Take a trip down memory lane to a rainy, overcast afternoon in Muncie, Indiana. This candid shot captures the quintessential pulse of a Midwestern town just as the analog era was peaking. On the left, the iconic "Haney Pharmacy No. 1" sign stands tall, proudly displaying its Prescription Specialists title alongside the classic, vibrant red Coca-Cola logo, welcoming drivers turning off Beacon Street.
Watch the streets come alive with vintage American steel: a pale yellow sedan leading the lane, classic boxy Ford and Chevy models coasting down the damp asphalt, and a deep blue sedan waiting patiently at the intersection under the glowing yellow traffic lights. The grand, white multi-story Victorian home on the right stands as a silent witness to decades of changing times.
Today, this exact intersection has evolved significantly. While the grand Victorian house on the right and some brick structures in the background still anchor the historic streetscape, Haney Pharmacy is long gone, along with its vintage Coca-Cola signage. The old, oversized yellow traffic signal poles have been upgraded to modern, sleek black metal fixtures, and the classic 1970s sedans have been replaced by modern SUVs and sedans. Yet, the timeless layout of Main and Liberty still echoes with the ghosts of these golden retro days.
