The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is one of those shows that really likes to one up itself. And each time it sets the bar pretty high. Last year, Jay Z, Kanye West, Nicki Minaj and Maroon 5 performed alongside VS Angels like Miranda Kerr, Karlie Kloss and Erin Heatherton. So where do you go from there? Hire Rihanna and Justin Bieber, obviously. And Bruno Mars for good measure. يقول أبو المحاسن جمال الدين يوسف بن الأمير تغري بردي الظاهري عن الشدة التي ضربت مصر في عهد الخليفة المستنصر الفاطمي بين عامي١٠٦٤ إلى أواخر ١٠٧١ للميلاد

"وجلا عن مصر خلق كثير لما حصل بها من الغلاء الزائد عن الحدّ، والجوع الذي لم يعهد مثله في الدنيا، فإنّه مات أكثر أهل مصر، وأكل بعضهم بعضا. وظهروا على بعض الطبّاخين أنّه ذبح عدّة من الصّبيان والنساء وأكل لحومهم وباعها بعد أن طبخها. وأُكِلَت الدوابّ بأسرها، فلم يبق لصاحب مصر، أعنى المستنصر، سوى ثلاثة أفراس بعد أن كانت عشرةَ آلاف ما بين فرس وجمل ودابّة. وبيع الكلب بخمسة دنانير، والسّنّور بثلاثة دنانير. ونزل الوزير أبو المكارم وزير المستنصر على باب القصر عن بغلته وليس معه إلّا غلام واحد، فجاء ثلاثة وأخذوا البغلة منه، ولم يقدر الغلام على منعهم لضعفه من الجوع فذبحوها وأكلوها، فأُخِذُوا وَصُلِبُوا، فأصبح الناسُ فلم يَرَوُا إلّا عِظَامَهُم، أَكَل الناسُ في تلك الليلة لحومَهم"

من بين من يذكرون الشدة المستنصرية، قليلون هم من يذكرون خلفيتها السياسية، فصورتها تظهر في الذاكرة الجمعية لأهل مصر، إن ظهرت، أقرب للكارثة الطبيعية منها للجريمة السياسية.

والحقيقة أن أكثر المؤرخين لا ينسبونها إلى انخفاض مياه النيل فحسب، بل إلى حرب عصابات درات رحاها بين عدد من الأمراء الطامعين في شغل منصب الوزارة. ويضع أكثرهم اللوم الأكبر على الأمير ناصر الدولة الثاني، ذي المجدين، الحسن بن الحسين الحمداني، وعلى الخليفة الفاطمي الذي كان ينصاع لأكثر عسكره بطشاً، وكان ناصر الدولة هذا (وجده أخو سيف الدولة الحمداني الذي مدحه المتنبي)، والياً للفاطميين على صور، ثم ضم إليها دمشق. وكانت ولاية الشام، كما دائماً، من أهم ولايات الخلافة، ويتوقع صاحبها أن يترقى بعدها لينال الوزارة، وهي أعلى منصب بعد الخليفة. إلا أن ذا المجدين هذا تم عزله بدلاً من ترقيته، فعاد إلى مصر وجنَّد البدو وحاصر القاهرة، قاطعاً عنها مدد الطعام من الدلتا والصعيد، وصادف ذلك انخفاض النيل أصلاً فجاع الناس ووقعت الشدة.
ولرفع الغلاء عن الناس، أضطر الخليفة إلى تولية ذي المجدين الوزارة، فرفع الحصار. إلا أن الناس لم يكادوا يتنفسون بعض الشيء، حتى نادى المنادي أن زملاء ذي المجدين قتلوه غدراً، وأن الحرب تدور بينهم على من يستولي على الوزارة، فاضطر المستنصر أن يستدعي والي عكا، فهزم هؤلاء الأمراء المتصارعين، وأعاد الأمور إلى نصابها. وأخذت هذه الأحداث من أولها إلى آخرها سبع سنوات "كسني يوسف" على حد تعبير الذهبي وابن تغري بردي.

الغريب في هذه القصة، حتى بمقاييس تلك العصور، هو سكون أهل البلد عما جرى لهم. وأن المستنصر الفاطمي أكمل مدة حكمه ولم يخلعه أحد، بل أن نظام الحكم القائم على صراع الأمراء، وتولية من يقتل أنداده منهم وزيراً، استمر مائة سنة أخرى حتى نهاية عهد الدولة الفاطمية في مصر. وسيمتلئ تاريخ مصر في القرون التسعة التالية لهذه الشدة، بشدائد أخرى، يختلف الأمراء، فتغلو الأسعار، ويدفع الفقراء، لا الأمراء، الثمن.

أكتب هذا متمنيا أن يكون مرور ألف عام قد غير شيئاً في طبائعنا وتذكيراً لمن يحب أن يتذكر، بأن طول صبر الناس على حكامهم، وعلى حكام حكامهم من الغزاة والمستعمرين، القدامى والجدد، قد يوقعهم في بلاء أسطوري الأبعاد، وأن الناس الذي يسمحون لحاكمهم أن يأكلهم لكي لا يأكل بعضهم بعضاً، عادة ما ينتهي بهم الأمر وقد ابتلوا بالشرين معاً، يأكلهم الحاكم، ثم يأكل بعضهم بعضاً.
