অস্ট্রেলিয়ার একজন কৃষক প্রায় ২০ বছরের গবেষণায় বিচিবিহীন লিচুর জাত উদ্ভাবন করতে সক্ষম হয়েছেন। চীন থেকে একটি লিচুর গাছ নিয়ে এসে শুরু হয়েছিল তার গবেষণা। এ প্রকল্পে ব্যয় হয় ৫ হাজার ডলার। এই কৃষকের নাম টিবি ডিকসন।

কয়েক দশক ধরে তিনি একাধিক জাতের লিচুর জাত উদ্ভাবন করেন। তার সবশেষ উদ্ভাবন হলো- বিচিবিহীন লিচু। যাকে তিনি ‘খুব সুস্বাদু’ বলছেন। এর স্বাদ অনেকটা আনারসের মতো।

এই কৃষক এবিসিকে বলেছেন, বিচিবিহীন এই জাত উদ্ভাবনে সফল না হওয়া পর্যন্ত তিনি চেষ্টা চালিয়ে যেতে থাকেন।

দীর্ঘ প্রচেষ্টায় লিচুর এই নতুন প্রজাতির উদ্ভাবন করা হয়েছে। চীন থেকে আমদানি করা ওই ছোট গাছ থেকে ক্রস পরাগায়নের মাধ্যমে এটি করা হয়। যাতে লিচুর পুরুষ ফুলের পরাগ সংগ্রহ করা হয় এবং তা নারী ফুলের অংশের মধ্যে স্থানান্তর করা হয়।

বিচিবিহীন লিচু উদ্ভাবন করলেন অস্ট্রেলিয়ার চাষি টিবি ডিক্সন। ৫ হাজার মার্কিন ডলার দিয়ে প্রায় ২০ বছর আগে চীন থেকে তিনি এই একটি লিচুগাছ সংগ্রহ করেন। তখন থেকেই তিনি চালাতে থাকেন নানা রকম পরীক্ষা-নিরীক্ষা। ডিক্সনের মূল লক্ষ্য ছিল, বিচিবিহীন লিচু উদ্ভাবন করা। দুই দশকের কঠোর পরিশ্রম শেষে অবশেষে সাফল্য পেয়েছেন ডিক্সন। তিনি জানান এই লিচু অনেক সুস্বাদু এবং খেতে অনেকটা আনারসের মত। এছাড়াও তিনি ভিন্ন জাতের লিচু উদ্ভাবন করেছেন। ৪০ বছরের বেশি সময় ধরে তিনি লিচু চাষ করে আসছেন এমনটাই জানান সংবাদমাধ্যম এবিসিকে। পর-পরাগায়নের মাধ্যমে ওই বিচিবিহীন লিচু উদ্ভাবন করেছেন। অনেক সময় ও শ্রম ব্যয় করে আজ তিনি সফলতা অর্জন করেছেন।
ডিক্সন বলেন, এই লিচুর উৎপাদন এখনো প্রাথমিক পর্যায়ে রয়েছে। কয়েক বছরের মধ্যেই এটিকে বাণিজ্যিক রূপ দেওয়া সম্ভব হবে।

Nier: Automata (Japanese: ニーアオートマタ? Hepburn: Nīa Ōtomata, stylized as NieR:Automata) is an action role-playing video game developed by PlatinumGames and published by Square Enix for PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows. The game was released in Japan in February 2017, and worldwide the following month. Nier: Automata is a sequel to the 2010 video game Nier, a spin-off of the Drakengard series. Set in the midst of a proxy war between machines created by otherworldly invaders and the remnants of humanity, the story follows the battles of a combat android, her companion, and a fugitive prototype. Gameplay combines role-playing elements with action-based combat and mixed genre gameplay similar to that of Nier.

Nier: Automata opens with 2B and 9S opening the way for a future incursion into machine territory, working to clear out machine threats for the local Resistance. With help from Anemone and later Pascal, 2B and 9S defeat multiple machine threats. During their missions, they witness the birth of and later fight Adam and Eve, physical manifestations of the machine network who reveal that their creators were destroyed centuries ago. 2B and 9S also encounter A2, who is on the run from YoRHa. It is revealed that the machines are beginning to feel emotions and gather in groups, and some like Pascal's group have grown tired of fighting. 9S is eventually captured by Adam, who is killed by 2B. Deprived of his brother, Eve goes mad with grief and drives the machines under his command into a frenzy. 2B and 9S kill Eve, but 9S is infected with the machine's logic virus, forcing 2B to kill him. Despite his body dying, 9S's personality is saved in the local machine network, allowing his transfer into a new body. The second playthrough follows the opening narrative from the perspective of 9S, offering new insight into the machines and Adam and Eve. 9S also learns that humanity has been extinct since the events of Nier aside from a server on the moon holding humanity's DNA and history. YoRHa and its mission were created to keep the androids from losing morale. He also encounters a glitch when performing a standard server sync, and halts the procedure for both himself and 2B.
