This specific shot encapsulates the peak of 1980s Americana. A continuous stream of iconic, boxy American classic sedans, pickup trucks, and heavy-duty semi-trucks cruising down the multi-lane highway. Prominently featuring the famous green-and-yellow sign of Bennigan's—the beloved Irish-themed casual dining staple of the era—alongside a large Goodyear service center and a marquee for the nearby Lakeside Theater.
Today, this exact stretch of Veterans Memorial Boulevard has transformed from its mid-80s suburban novelty into a modern, heavily commercialized economic hub. The vintage Bennigan's restaurant and its iconic sign are long gone. The property and neighboring lots have been entirely redeveloped, making way for modern commercial giants like Home Depot and nearby retail strip centers.
The wooden utility poles, tangled overhead power lines, and original street lamps have been replaced by modernized, high-capacity utility infrastructure and contemporary traffic signaling systems. While it remains just as busy—if not busier—than it was in 1985, the vintage classic cars have been entirely replaced by modern SUVs, sleek electric vehicles, and contemporary commuter traffic.
